The clinical child/pediatric psychology area at UF is a specialty area within the Department of Clinical & Health Psychology.
Our goal is to foster the development of competent psychologists who can engage in high-quality research and practice. Our area offers extensive opportunities for interprofessional research collaboration and clinical training across a wide range of disciplines and medical subspecialties.
Consistent with the scientist-practitioner model, graduate students are expected to be active in research throughout their training. Each graduate student is typically engaged in numerous research projects in addition to their thesis and dissertation projects. As such, our program is best suited for students who are pursuing careers that emphasize research as opposed to clinical practice. Previous graduate students have attained faculty positions in academic medical centers and universities.
Students are strongly encouraged to pursue publication of their work, present their research at national conferences, and pursue funding opportunities. We are proud to note that our students have been very successful in their research endeavors, as can be seen on this website, and have a high rate of matching to preferred internships.
